My words so often flow without a care or hesitation
onto the waiting canvas only I can see.
At other times, the thoughts are there, just
aching for a path around your fears that still my hand.
Would that I could write the words to free a
gentle spirit locked deep within a searching soul;
A soul that cries for peace and just one chance
to feel the joy of someone's selfless love.
Perhaps those words will never come,
for though our hearts and minds are always open
to the things we wish to share………a part of
what we feel seems doomed to linger in a
shadowed hall.
Deny the thoughts…pretend the feelings don’t exist.
For this becomes a safer way, and guards against
the possibility of pain.
Too soon we find the lock upon that searching soul,
has turned to stone…..protected, safe, and yet...
the chance to feel is lost.
